Bought as a newly weaned foal from Beeston Horse Sales in 1981. He came to Perry Cottage and, apart from the odd visit to neighbours' fields, never left us.
He taught most of the youngsters in North Shropshire how to fall off a bucking pony - until he reached the age of about 15 when he stopped bucking quite so much! He was always wonderfully well behaved on a lead rein or in a carriage, it was only when life got a bit exciting and a gallop was in prospect that the bucks started!
He is remembered, however, with a huge degree of affection from everyone who knew him. He played a huge part in all the Group activities, drove Father Christmas in a carriage to Severndale School in Shrewsbury one Winter term, drove several young ladies to their weddings, carried groups of children tired from litter picking and helped with all the riding sessions and latterly with the grooming sessions, really enjoying a bit of unique fuss and attention from the children.
He was never one for making a fuss or a bother apart from days when the hounds were in the vicinity, and he never really liked to be stroked or fussed, but he was a terrific character and as the founder member of the Perry Riding for the Disabled Group he will be very much missed.
Micky retired on the 29th April 2007 and was at the Fund raising event that day for the Shropshire Special Riding for the Disabled Centre at Walford College. He passed away in bliss in 2010.
